National Museum of Cambodia - PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA
The National Museum of Cambodia in Chey Chumneas (Phnom Penh) is Cambodia's largest museum of cultural history and is the country's leading historical and archaeological museum.
George Groslier (1887-1945), historian, curator and author designed this quintessential building inspired by Khmer temple architecture.The museum building was constructed between 1917 and 1924 and it was renovated in 1968.
The museum houses one of the world's largest collections of Khmer art, including sculptures, Khmer ceramics, bronzes and ethnographic objects from the prehistoric, pre-Angkorian, Angkorian and post-Angkorian periods.
